Census Site - The PhilaMercury Project

An online image and description database for United States covers that is free and open-access. Over 25,000 covers listed including the Marc Haas collection (info about this aspect here). Database can be browsed or searched, and results may be sorted by date, origin as well as by additional parameters. Instructions and information on how to use this resource are here.


Postal History Resources

Books available as free PDF files include The Pony Express, A Postal History and Mails of the Westward Expansion, 1803 to 1861. Searchable PDF files of United States Post Office Acts and postal rate summaries here. Annotated Additional Page of Links useful for research including newspaper archives, and period source documents. Stanley B. Frajola's Sperati Forgery Site

This site is based on the collection formed by the late Dr. Carl Walske, author of the 2001 Sperati II book published by the RPSL. It includes information about Jean de Sperati as well as his "Philatelie d'Art" (superb reproductions). It also includes high resolution images of genuine stamps as well as his fakes and forgeries. Contributions of images and information is welcomed and will be properly credited.
