Civilian
mail between the Confederate States and the United States was handled
via a flag of truce boat that operated between Richmond (CSA) and Old Point Comfort (US)
between March 1862 and end of the war. The above

The
trime design was modified in 1854 (three outlines to the star and
reverse ornaments, type II). The star design was changed to two outlines
in 1859 (type III).
