First Period, 1881 - 1885 Issues

This section includes the first printings of the first issue of Nepal. These stamps were printed on European wove paper and the quality of the impressions was excellent.

The first postage stamps were issued in April 1881. The initial sheets were pin-perforated and gummed with a clear white gum. A brown gum was then used but was also soon abandoned. By June 1881 the stamps were issued imperforate and without gum. Few of the pin-perforated stamps saw use.
