Nashville Provisionals
(Genuine Issue and Forgeries)

The Postmaster at Nashville, Tennessee, after preparing a 3c stamp that was not issued, did proceed to issue 5c and 10c Provisionals in 1861.

Nashville 3c Provisional

This stamp (Scott catalog #4AX1) was prepared, but not issued, by Nashville, Tennessee postmaster W.D. McNish prior to June 1, 1861.

   a. all have small break in top frame line above "N"
Genuine colors seen:
    a. carmine

These stamps (Scott catalog #61X1 to #61X5) were issued by Nashville, Tennessee postmaster W.D. McNish in 1861.
